Lola and Frankie's Corner!
We run a tight ship here at the clinic. Get the REAL scoop from us!

PMCK News:

Happy Spring, everybody!  It’s me, Lola, coming to you straight from the lobby of the Pet Medical Center.  Frankie and I been doing very well, in case you were wondering.  We just celebrated our five year anniversary as roomies and clinic ambassadors!  Time sure does fly – it feels like only yesterday that we hissed “Hello” and were wondering how we would every get along.  Here we are, though, five years later and the best of friends.  Frankie should feel really special, too, because she know that I’m really more of a dog lover!

Dr. Cruz and company have been really busy this year, and we are happy to see that the Pet Medical Center family continues to grow.  We have seen so many interesting things and meet so many wonderful people and pets.  I heard our humans recently celebrated their sixth anniversary in practice here at PMCK.  That’s funny – what did they DO before Frankie and I got here?  I mean, don’t most people come here to see US?

All the talk around here seems to be about the warmer weather we’ve been having, and how we are soon going to be seeing more fleas and ticks.  Apparently, there was a terrible tick problem last Fall, and the humans that work here keep saying that the problem will resurface as the warm weather continues.  Dr. Cruz says that fleas and ticks are a year round problem in this area, and that it is important that pets be protected against these pests, as they carry and transmit serious diseases.  She also recommends that all pets be on year round heartworm prevention.  All cats, even those that live inside, should be on heartworm prevention because there in no treatment for cats if they get heartworms.  I was really worried about Frankie and I when I heard that, but Frankie informed me that this was the reason the people here put that liquid stuff on our necks every month.  I always wondered why they did that.  Now I know.  Thanks, guys!

Something that Frankie and I were noticing is how many dogs and cats are coming in to be treated for itching and sneezing.  Dr. Cruz says that these pets suffer from allergies, either the things in the air, like pollen and dust, or fleas.  Pets, just like people, can suffer from seasonal allergies.  Some pets sneeze, wheeze, and have runny eyes.  Some chew at their paws and rub their ears.  Some do both!  The people here can help these pets with medicines and supplements, or with over the counter products that they recommend.  Allergies, if not addressed, can cause discomfort and secondary infections.  If your pet is showing any of these signs, please call the office and our humans will set up an appointment for them.

Hold on, Dr. Cruz wants to say something.                                                                           “What’s up, Mom?”

“Hey, girls!  Thanks for going over these thing with our clients and readers.  You’ve been very informative!  I just want to say that it’s been a wonderful six years here in Grand Lakes, and that we thank you for your loyalty and support.  We welcome the opportunity to serve you and your pets, and look forward to meeting new faces!  Back to you, Lola!”

I couldn’t have said it any better!  On behalf of Frankie, myself, and the human crew, we wish you a happy, healthy, and safe Spring season!  Don’t be a stranger!
