Pet Hygiene

It is important for your pet’s well-being and happiness to keep clean and your pet’s hygienic needs are different from your own. The veterinary team at Pet Medical Center of Katy is here for all of your pet’s hygienic needs.

We provide:

  • Anal gland expression

  • Ear cleaning

  • Nail trimming

  • Regular bathing

  • Medicated baths

Anal Gland Expression

Cats and dogs have a special gland next to their anus that produces a liquid substance. The gland is usually emptied during a bowel movement. However, if the gland is not emptied regularly, the liquid inside the gland can become thick or impacted, which can lead to infection.

If you notice that your pet is in pain while they’re having a bowel movement, or if they’re rubbing their backside on the ground, it’s possible that your pet may need their anal glands expressed or examined by one of our veterinary professionals.

Ear Cleaning

While your pets are fairly adept at grooming themselves, their ears are particularly hard to reach. Help your pet out by cleaning their ears regularly. If you’re unable to do it yourself, our Katy veterinarians can help.

Nail Trimming

Trimming your pet’s nails yourself can be tricky if not downright impossible to do at home. Many pets hate having their nails trimmed. However, it’s important for their health that their nails are kept trimmed and neat, or they risk getting ingrown. The veterinary professionals at Pet Medical Center of Katy are able to trim your pet’s nails for you. We can also teach you tricks to trim your pet’s nails at home.

Regular Bathing

Your pets deserve to be treated to a spa day. While we encourage you to regularly bathe your pet at home, we offer basic bathing services at Pet Medical Center of Katy to help your pets stay squeaky clean! We’re also able to give you tips and tricks for bathing your pets at home.

Medicated Baths

Pet Medical Center of Katy offers medicated baths for a variety of conditions that your pet may be suffering from. Pets who have allergies, dermatological issues, or flea infestations can benefit from a medicated bath from our veterinary team.
